Book Club 7 meeting 23/04/20

Book Club 7 signed in for their first virtual meeting on 23rd April. Unfortunately, only three members were able to make it on the night. We discussed ‘How long ‘til black future month’ by N.K. Jemsin and ‘The Immortalists’ by Chloe Benjamin. Two members had read each so sadly discussion was quite short on both books. Sarah who picked ‘How long ‘til black future month’ did so because she had very much enjoyed the writer’s earlier novel and thought that it would be interesting to read her collection of short stories. Book Club 6 meeting 21/04/20

Five members of Book Club 6 met online for their first virtual meeting on 21st April. We had an enjoyable half hour where we talked about ‘The Aosawa Murders’ by Riku Onda and ‘The Beekeeper of Aleppo’ by Christy Lefteri. The Aosawa Murders scored 14.5 out of 25. The general agreement was that it had been an interesting book to read as the structure of the book was different from the normal murder mystery formula and had made them pay close attention to who was speaking as the narrative changed from chapter to chapter. Book Club 4 meeting 16/04/20

Book Club 4 had their first virtual meeting on 16th April where we discussed two books; the unmaking of Ellie Rook by Sandra Ireland, and the Aosawa Murders by Riku Onda. Eight of the group managed to make it online and managed, with the help of hand signals, to have a good conversation about both books. The Unmaking of Ellie Rook was up first.
