Ken was born in Dundee in 1957 and was brought up by Bill and Jessie Ramsay at three different addresses in the Ferry, at Queen Street, next door to the Occidental, at Forthill Road, on the corner with Nursery Road, and at Anton Drive, in the shadow of these gigantic trees. He was schooled at Forthill Primary, Grove Academy (1969-75) and Dundee University (1975-79).
